THE COACH
Because of the tremendous success of The Strategist which was sold out and is now scheduled for London and Melbourne, and because of continuing demand for the subject, I am scheduling The Coach for March 17-18, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI.
This is a one-day workshop with an optional second morning. It is designed to provide pragmatic, immediately-applicable coaching skills and dynamic marketing and fee guidance.
Specifically, you will learn on the first day:
- What coaching really is, minus the hype and "universities."
- Why you do not need "certification." (Who certifies the certifiers?)
- The key steps to engagement and developing behavioral objectives.
- How to provide feedback.
- How to help modify behavior.
- The differences among behaviors, skills, and experiences.
- Working with the client-subject, and the non-client-subject.
- Effective methodologies for rapid client improvement.
- Ineffective methodologies to avoid or beware of. (Watch your labels.)
- How to disengage.
- How to create a brand and positioning.
- The relationship of consulting and coaching.
- Best practices for fees and expanding business.
And you will observe and comment on (and participate in if you volunteer) real-time "hot seat" coaching:
- People seeking improved careers.
- People seeking changed behavior.
- People needing to exert more influence.
- People who may need therapeutic intervention.
- People with aberrant behavior problems.
- People requiring organization and time management improvement.
- And some surprises.
(We're going to use an actor for some of these!!)
In the optional second morning:
- Practice, application, and feedback in small groups with case studies.
- Role-plays in small groups.
- Demonstrations of tough coaching challenges from the main stage.
- Adding coaching as a key element in existing practices.
- Building coaching as a sole practice with diverse options.
We have limited seating and both Best Practices and The Strategist sold out in this location. I don't plan to present this again any time soon within the U.S. because I don't like to do repetitive workshops unless they are overseas.
There will be two CDs and a concise manual provided, along with brief preparation work and a copy of all visuals used.
We have a special rate at the Crowne Plaza of $139 for the event. Mention my name and this program.
Special Option:
I am hosting a dinner the first night (March 17) for the first 12 people who register and request it AND include a $250 dollar donation in their tuition which will be matched by me and provided for the East Greenwich Animal Protection League. These dinners are very popular and sell-out almost immediately. (I always love it when someone registers a week before the program and asks if there is still space at the dinner, assuming I haven't been able to attract a dozen people yet!)
For the first time ever, on the same night, my wife will host a dinner for ten people for the charity The Smile Train. She will be happy to discuss the "behind the scenes" aspects of my practice and include her frightening "stupid Alan stories." This dinner is $250 and we will also match that in the contribution.
The dinners are concurrent, so take your choice if you wish to attend one. I suspect hers will sell out more quickly!
The Outcome
I believe you will emerge as a more effective coach for both individuals and teams; be better positioned in the marketplace to attract coaching business; have options to provide clients; and establish fees which reflect the true value of your ability to enhance others' personal and professional lives. And you will have confidence that you ARE an outstanding coach because YOU know the value you provide!
That's not bad for a day or so.
Fees:
